We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Drazin-Sultan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
I have many. I think for the purposes of this interview – I’ll select two: 1. Nothing will work unless you do – Maya Angelou 2. When you are on the path of your bliss – doors will open that you never knew where there to be opened. – unknown The first quote is so relevant to being an entrepreneur, in my opinion. You can have a great idea, and people can give you all the praise in the world – but every business is not necessarily “if you build it they will come.” Most businesses go – if you build it, and work really, really, really hard 24/7, they will come. I remember when I was a little girl, my brother was one of those kids that excelled in everything – sports, academics – everything. He was always number 1. As he grew older and competition grew fiercer, he was frustrated that things did not come as easily to him. More work was required to excel. My dad once told him, and it burned in my mind, “success isn’t just going to wake up and come knocking on your door, you have to go out and knock on its door!” The second quote I read once when I was in high school, and it has clearly made an impression. The more experiences I have in creating myself and my business, the more I believe in this quote. When you are truly on the path of your bliss, I promise – doors just seem to open. Of course, reverting back to my first quote – You have to actively be working on your path. Doors just won’t open if you’re sitting on your bum.
What should our readers know about your business?
Khospace is located in Aventura, Delray and Coral Gables. Our offices offer lease-free office space for mental health and wellness providers. Our luxury spaces are affordable, safe and clean. Khospace offers our community a variety of other benefits and support that promotes each practitioner’s success.
I am most proud of the direction Khospace is going. When we started out, I thought that we might be a single boutique space. In a short time, we have grown to three locations, with more locations rolling out across the country soon! Khospace locations serve their communities in so many positive ways. Practitioners who dedicate their lives to bettering the mental health and wellness of others are able to have beautiful office space and low overhead; thus, allowing them to maximize their financial potential. Furthermore, more providers are practicing and availing themselves to meet the needs of their communities. I am so proud of the internal community that Khospace offers practitioners. These relationships often help boost energy and moral of the people who give so much of themselves to the needs of others. I am thrilled that Khospace can really fulfill our mission to make mental health and wellness available for all!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I obtained my masters from University of Miami, and I’ve lived in so many places from the Grove up to Aventura, so I have love for so many locations. My favorite places to bring friends who are in from out of town are the less touristy areas that are loved by locals. Wynwood, Brickell, Sunset Harbor and Design District are always a must. If weather permits, I also love Azucar ice cream and a stroll along Calle Ocho – also provides an amazing cultural experience! My nights out until sunrise ended a while ago, so I’m not sure what’s “in” these days. I’m more of a great food and good bar scene kind of girl. Some of my favorite restaurants and coffees can be found in Sunset Harbor and Brickell. I also love a good day of day drinking poolside with amazing views, the beach, etc. I have my go-to spots for this too, of course! I know it sounds like I am avoiding the details of the question, but really my spots vary from ultra luxury to the hole in the wall, behind the gas station vendor selling the best cuban food in Miami!!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gosh – this is really so hard! I feel like if I start describing all the people who deserve recognition the Oscar song will start playing to tell me to stop! I am truly grateful to so many people that have contributed to my success. My parents, siblings, in-laws, son and husband (and business partner) are obvious and they know why. I also think that our business partner, Bo, deserves a shout out, for sure!
