We had the good fortune of connecting with Sweta Doshi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sweta, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had worked at large Beauty companies for a decade, and was taking a break from full-time work to explore more entrepreneurial options and spend more time with my kids. I felt so lucky for all the skills and connections that I had gained throughout my career, and I was ready to make an impact in a different way.

During this time, I had my 2nd child, and the idea for Bubbsi came about when my newborn developed eczema. I was a mom that was concerned with what I put on her skin, and I was underwhelmed at the natural skincare options available for her. All the clean products out there didn’t work on her dry patches. We ended up using organic coconut oil to clear her skin, but it was a pure mess. Given my expertise in the Beauty industry, I knew I could create a product that was highly natural, effective and easy to use.

I also noticed there was nothing in the baby skincare space that sparked real emotion. I wanted to create a products that would embrace the silliness of being a kid and inspire fun moments as a family.

I believe my success with the business thus far is in large part due to the skills I learned at my prior jobs. Starting a business is very risky and incredibly hard work. My advice to young professionals who are interested in entrepreneurship is to first consider jobs where they can learn real, tangible skills (ideally at a leading company within an industry) that they can apply to their own endeavors later in their career.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bubbsi is the first children’s skincare line that is truly “good-for-you” AND “fun-for-you.” Our formulas are distinctive because I develop them to be clean enough for my kids skin, but effective enough for my own skin. That means less water than your average baby product, and more of the good stuff like organic coconut oil. The fun comes in with our bottles – they are super soft & squeezable food-grade silicone bottles that double as toys (and are refillable!). Customers often tell me that because of Bubbsi, their children now ask for lotion. I believe our products are game-changing because they transform a moment of the day that was once a tedious chore for parents into a ritual that is fun for both kids and parents.

Bubbsi’s #1 differentiation is the quality of our products, and our customers are loyal because they feel the passion and love of a mom founder behind everything that our brand does.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, my recommendations are a bit dated due to Covid (and…life 🙂 but there are so many great spots in NYC!
