We had the good fortune of connecting with The Drain Outs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Drain Outs, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
We all grew up playing music, so it made sense to continue it. It’s a great feeling that you’re able to get up on stage or behind a recorder and lose yourself in the process of song writing and performing. It’s easy to grow up into a boring adult, but playing music has helped us feel like kids.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We’re a rock and roll band and put on shows that make people want to get up dance and have fun. We got to where we are from word of mouth mostly and just focusing on the song writing and performing. Through our music, we try to convey the crests and troughs of the waves that only love can toss you in. We also focus on making hip shakin’ music the kids can dance to. If you come to a Drain Outs show, you’ll leave sweaty and happy, probably with a friend for the night.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In order, this is roughly how a few days in the area would go: The Hub, the bathroom at The Hub, the river walk (after the Hub), Reservoir Bar, the Castle, Dan’s house, Indian Rocks Beach, Treasure island, The Kooky Coconut, DTSP, The Bends, the bathroom at The Bends, slip and slide party at Blake’s house, Lowry Zoo, Lowry Parcade, King of the Coop, Matt’s house.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, the local scene’s been really sweet. It’s really rad to see all of our friends come out to our shows and blast our tunes around town. We also really dig drinking Rolling Rock and chilling at Sligh Petrol, the local gas station, so big shout to them. Super rad of our girlfriends for putting up with us always coming home dirty, as well as making bad music. Without them, we wouldn’t be dating them. Big thanks.
