We had the good fortune of connecting with Valerie Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valerie, how does your business help the community?
MAGNØ Model & Talent Management was borned with the idea of developing confident, outstanding & empowered women. Our main goal is to provide the right tools, knowledge and techniques to our models to help them succeed in this tough industry. Building a strong platform for young girls and adult women to create their best version, starting from within fortifying their self-esteem. It is very fulfilling to see their transformation, along with the opportunities that come after we prepare them. As we always say, the woman that comes into MAGNØ, will never come out the same… she is better in every way!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an entrepreneur and a singer I can say one of the biggest challenges has been making people believe what you are capable of doing, because they don’t share your vision or neither your talent. I learned to look for ways to make things happen, with or without others approval. It is why in MAGNØ we provide the opportunity to women who do not have a previous experience, but have the talent and the will to become the best in this industry. We are focused on corrupting fiscal stereotypes and instead valuing confidence, projection and talent over social beauty standards. We work and value our models with their different body shape, high or cultural backgrounds.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Miami, what I enjoy the most is the beach. I was born & raised in Puerto Rico which is why I value the Latin Culture of Miami; the beach, music and food. Fist thing I would recommend would be eating at 100×35, a Puertorican restaurant. Followed by doing paddle board or Jet-ski by The Monument Island, which is one of my favorite spots. I would totally recommend “Sugar East” & “Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita” to enjoy a nice rooftop experience. As for the water view experience, I would go with “Seaspice”. A walk by Brickell City Centre is a plus & a Café at Dior in Miami Design District is a must. This city has a way to keep up the excitement, there is always something new & fun to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I experienced growing in the entertainment industry, I was guided by inspiring professors & mentors from whom I learned and who believed in my capacity and talent even at a young age. While growing up, I wanted other girls to have that experience as well, so I started working in a Model Agency when I was 16 years old. My family always supported me in every way & I’m thankful for that. As for today, we can see our project growing fast, reaching & changing so many lives. All I can say to my mentors & family is thank you for believing in me. It is what I want to provide to women today, a guide and being someone who sees them, someone who believes in them.
