We had the good fortune of connecting with Walter Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Walter, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
It takes courage to start and persevere in your own business. In some ways, starting is often the most difficult part of the whole journey. Remember that courage is really 50 percent fear. Being courageous means having a goal that you believe in. The more deeply you believe in that goal, the more fear you are willing to overcome. Ultimately you must 1. Do what you love to do, and keep doing it, with persistence. And don’t dream too small. 2. Develop a multipronged strategy to sell and market your work. Value your work, and be persistent. 3. Institute good financial controls: Monitor every expense and make sure those expenses remain well below your income.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The thing that sets me apart from other people within the music industry is that I actually play multiple instruments. This allows me to approach music from different approaches and allows me to write and produce music for multiple genres of music.

To get where I’m at today professionally, took effort, determination, and perseverance. Although I’ve been faced with various obstacles, I’ve had to remain focused on my vision despite what the current situation looks like.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is time management. Having a clear grasp of time management allows you to handle various tasks, and speaks volumes when dealing with other businesses and individuals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Bayside Wynwood
South Beach

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my family. Their unwavering support of me in pursuing my dreams has allowed me the freedom to explore and take risks that I otherwise would not be able to do.
