We had the good fortune of connecting with Yannis Brunet and Angela Crowley of GYROTONIC® Coral Gables and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yannis and Angela, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
We both grew up loving movement and sports. Yannis played soccer, raced bicycles, motocross and motor rallies in France. I was a gymnast and a dancer and my mother owned a dance and gymnastics studio. Later I became a pilates instructor and manual therapist. Recovering from injuries we each discovered the GYROTONIC® method.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Gyrotonic method is redefining the future of exercise. It is a holistic movement system that is based on the way our bodies organically move. Our refreshing state of the art fitness center is filled with unusual progressive apparatus in a beautiful environment. We specialize in private personalized sessions and also offer more affordable small group sessions. We offer something for everyone. Whether you are in great shape, want to get into shape, or need that competitive edge, the Gyrotonic equipment is adaptable to compliment the needs of the individual. We have elite athletes who train with us, people with spinal fusions and joint replacements, ballroom and ballet dancers, golfers, tennis players, housewives and everyone in between. The exercises go beyond the core strengthening of pilates and the flexibility of yoga This unique system works from the inside out using balanced flowing full body workouts that enhance well-being, coordination, posture, balance and agility. We love watching people improve their freedom of movement and quality of life. It is so different from any other exercise system, we invite people to watch the videos on our website gyrotoniccoralgables.com and come in for an experience. We are the only fully equipped Gyrotonic studio in Miami offering all levels of educational training. To complement the movement studio, we also offer a wide range of bodywork modalities including deep tissue massage, myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, and Reiki.
We grew our business organically. We opened in Miami over twelve years ago and started in a very small space with minimal equipment. We have grown one machine at a time primarily by word of mouth and reputation. In 2018 we expanded into our current space enabling us to offer group sessions as well as privates and expand our instructor training. Aspiring instructors looking to refresh their careers can train with us here in Miami. It is a wonderfully attractive city as an educational center. People love to visit. We are very proud to be known worldwide for our training of instructors in the Gyrotonic method.
COVID was a challenge which led us to create Zoom offerings which we continue to make available to certified instructors around the globe.
Now that the world has opened back up, we are super excited. Many people in Miami have never heard of the Gyrotonic method and we are thrilled to expand the Gyrotonic market throughout this dynamic city. We have a new location coming soon.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Juiliu Horvath, the creator of the Gyrotonic method developed this revolutionary approach to movement based on his own expertise as a dancer and his inherent understanding of health and energy.
