We had the good fortune of connecting with Yenara Montenegro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yenara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a small business owner, I believe one cannot be successful without a team of incredible individuals in your corner. I think the most important factor behind my success has definitely been the support of family, friends & other small business owners. Little things such as accompanying me to markets, staying with my daughter while I attend the markets, cooking dinner while I squeeze in a few moments to get some work done, sharing posts through social media, or recommending our products/services, all of these small gestures, have made it possible for me to continue growing my brand. The small business community has welcomed me with open arms and has made me feel right at home. Every small business owner I have met this past year has played a key role in my success, from networking, to promoting each other and collaborating, they have all been so inspirational and have been motivation to keep pushing forward and growing my brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Macrame is a form of fiber art that is both functional and decorative. My goal with Knotfully Yours is to add that perfect Boho touch to any space. One of the most important factors of creating fiber art is the quality of the materials. It takes much trial and error to find the perfect material from the right vendors. To create our pieces I use different forms of fiber (wool, organic cotton, silk, ribbons) as well as different media such as pressed flowers, wooden beads and rings. Our products range from coasters, to car diffusers, to wall hangings, home decor & plant hangers all the way to event backdrops. One of my favorite things to work on is custom orders, I love getting to know the customer, their likes and dislikes, and working together to create the perfect piece specially curated for them. The newest aspect of our business is one that I am so excited for, Knotfully Yours is now offering different items for event rentals. One example of items you can rent are backdrops, which are perfect for weddings, baby showers, photo booths, etc. To get to where I am today professionally took both perseverance and commitment, it took me breaking out of my shell and learning to network. I am committed to always show up for myself as well as everyone I meet along the way of my small business journey, to check off all the boxes of a perfect and enjoyable shopping experience, and to bring any if not all of your boho dreams come to life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a new mom of the cutest little baby, I haven’t done much exploring as of lately so I wouldn’t be able to give you a week long itinerary but I can give you a solid day! (Disclaimer: I am a total foodie so most of my recommendations will be food) First things first, breakfast! Islas Canarias has the best croquetas Miami has to offer, this is a great spot to visit for your morning tostada and cafe con leche (don’t forget to dip your tostada in your cafe con leche!). Now if you like to sleep in and are more of a brunch person, Tap 42 is the way to go. I mean how can you go wrong with bottomless mimosas, steak and eggs and maybe some breakfast shots? If you’re in the mood for the beach make your way down to Crandon park beach, if you’re lucky you’ll be able to enjoy some downtime on a sandbar. Now let’s talk breweries, Craft beer is near and dear to my heart and one of our favorite spots is Tripping Animals in Doral. Here you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious IPA while having some of their yummy poké. If you’re looking a for a fun night out on the town, Bouganvilleas is the place for you. It is a Miami staple located in South Miami offering live music & drink specials guaranteeing a great time. Ok, now back to food. It’s dinner time and you’re craving pizza, well lucky you! Local Pie is located in Kendall and is ready to feed you the most delicious pizza. They’re a family owned business with great customer service and their “Pretty Fly For a White Pie” is to die for. Now, last but not least, Sweet Melody is Father and Daughter Duo who specialize in bringing us the best artisan ice cream in Miami. Make sure to visit one of their two locations, the Ventanita in West Kendall or their store front in palmetto bay! I promise they will not disappoint.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To say Knotfully Yours is a one woman show wouldn’t be entirely truthful. Sure, I create all the pieces and am the boss babe behind the ideas but without the help of some important people, Knotfully Yours would cease to exist. With that being said a HUGE thank you and shout out goes to the following people: Jereme, my amazing husband, the backbone of this business. Danielle from Danielle Margherite Photography, has been such a great mentor and friend in the business, I wouldn’t be where I am without her constant encouragement. All of my friends and family who never cease to surprise me at the lengths they’ll go to support me and my dreams.
