Meet Jason Robinovitz | Education Innovator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Robinovitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I’ve been fortunate to spend my career in a field with profound social impact: education. Through our three organizations — Score At The Top, Score Academy, and JRA Educational Consulting — we’re able to touch students’ lives in different but complementary ways.
With Score At The Top, our tutoring and test prep division, we help students strengthen their academic foundation and improve their performance on standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. For many families, those improvements translate not only into better college admissions outcomes, but also meaningful scholarship opportunities that ease the financial burden of higher education.
Through Score Academy, our accredited private school, the impact is even more personal. Our intentionally small classes and individualized learning plans allow students to receive as much attention as they need. Whether it’s supporting an elite athlete with a demanding schedule or guiding a student with learning differences, we build the model around each child rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all system. That student-first philosophy changes lives by giving kids the confidence, skills, and independence they need to thrive.
Finally, JRA Educational Consulting helps families identify the schools and colleges where students will truly flourish. Too often, choices are driven by prestige or rankings rather than fit. Just because a student is academically qualified for the Ivy League doesn’t mean that’s the right environment for them. We guide families toward schools where students can grow into the best versions of themselves, academically, socially, and personally.
At its core, our work is about helping young people discover their potential and giving them the tools, support, and confidence to pursue it. That ripple effect doesn’t stop at the individual student — it benefits families, communities, and, I believe, society as a whole.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My path into education wasn’t a straight line. I began my career as a medical malpractice attorney, but after a few years, and the tragic loss of a friend, I realized I wanted to do something more meaningful. When I joined my family’s business, it was primarily a tutoring and test prep company with only a very small school division. At first, I thought I’d simply help manage operations for a little while. But as I got more involved, I saw the incredible potential of our school model.
As we invested in improvements — better curriculum, more teacher training, school trips — students who initially enrolled for short-term support began staying longer and longer. What started as a small arm of the business eventually became our dominant line. Today, Score Academy is a fully accredited private school recognized among the top in the Miami metro area (the only “micro-school” to make the list!), serving students who thrive best in a customized, student-first environment.
The thing I’m most excited about right now is growth. We’re opening our newest campus in Miami, expanding our footprint into a vibrant community where families are looking for alternatives to traditional education. And we’ve also launched Score Academy Online, a fully virtual school that gives students across the world access to the same individualized education we’ve built in our brick-and-mortar campuses. Both projects are about meeting students where they are and continuing to redefine what school can look like.
Getting here hasn’t been easy. Transitioning from law into education meant learning an entirely new world, curriculum, accreditation, school administration, and there were plenty of obstacles along the way. But the lessons I’ve learned are clear: surround yourself with talented people, stay focused on your mission, and never lose sight of the fact that at the heart of every decision is a student whose future depends on us. That’s what drives me, and that’s the story I want the world to know about our brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want the week to feel like the perfect mix of great meals, nostalgia, and everything that makes South Florida special.
Since cooking is my favorite hobby, at least one evening would be spent at our home. I’d put together a gourmet meal for my friend and my family, and we’d make good use of the dining room. I’m also a bourbon collector, so the night wouldn’t be complete without sampling a few bottles from my collection; it’s always better to share good bourbon with friends who appreciate it.
The rest of the week would be a dizzying tour of the area. We’d start with some of my favorite restaurants—Buccan in Palm Beach and Sweetwater in Boynton Beach are my top two, and spend a night out on Delray’s Atlantic Avenue. Depending on the group, we might even end the night at Good Night John Boy for some dancing.
No visit would be complete without some time at the beach, soaking up the sun and laughing about old adventures. We’d also plan a day in Miami: shopping and people-watching in the Design District, exploring the arts in Wynwood, and capping it off with dinner at one of Miami’s Michelin-starred restaurants (Stubborn Seed is one of my top choices). We’d likly stay overnight to enjoy the nightlife without rushing home.
And for the sake of nostalgia, we’d make a stop at PopStroke, we used to play mini-golf weekly back in high school, then follow it up with a visit to Drive Shack to work on our long game. Between the food, the fun, the culture, and the ocean, it would be the kind of trip that reminds us both why South Florida is such a vibrant place to live and visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without question, my parents deserve the greatest credit for where I am today. When I was a child struggling with reading and writing, they made sure I was tested and discovered I was both dyslexic and ADHD. Instead of treating those diagnoses as limitations, my mother reframed them as differences — she reminded me constantly that it didn’t mean I wasn’t intelligent, only that I learned differently and needed to find the strategies that worked best for me. With her support and years of tutoring, I developed the tools I needed, and by the time I reached college, and later law school, I no longer needed academic support.
At the same time, my father was modeling entrepreneurship in real time. He always ran his own businesses and often confided in me about the decisions he was facing. Those conversations, where he asked for my input and explained his reasoning, sparked my interest in leadership and taught me the importance of strategy, risk-taking, and seizing opportunity. He encouraged me to think like an owner long before I ever became one.
Today, I’m fortunate to work alongside both of them as partners. While I run the day-to-day operations, they remain behind me, offering guidance, perspective, and encouragement. Their belief in me has been the foundation of my success, and I’m grateful every day that I get to build on what they started while having them by my side.
