We had the good fortune of connecting with Adela Pele and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adela, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up I always heard about the American Dream, and what it meant to have the freedom and the means to build a successful business. Moving to United States for me was a chance to pursue that dream that I always read about and saw in the movies. I have to admit that at first I was a little bit disappointed, mostly in the fact that many people here in United States think that The American Dream is dying and its no longer easy to achieve. It is very easy to take for granted all the opportunities that this country offers and give up every time there is a bump in the road. The main reason why I started my own business was to get out of my comfort zone and to prove that hard work and determination is the key to success. Making my business successful can be an inspiration for others and an encouragement to follow their dreams.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As long as I can remember I loved creating things. A while back I discovered the beautiful art of candle making and from that moment on there was no going back. Atelier Pivoine was created out of love for simple, natural and beautiful candle making. I decided to start this journey and share my candles with the world because I believe candles should be elegant, simple and most importantly as natural as possible. There were a lot of challenges, but with each challenge I learned something new that helped me organize better and shape my business. Our operation is small at the moment but it grows with every candle that leaves our shop and we are thankful for the opportunity to make our customers life better with a whiff of happiness. Each and every one of our candles are made by hand and all the ingredients are carefully selected to make our candles just shy of perfection.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in South Florida it’s an everyday adventure. Since there are over 300 sunny days here I always recommend to whom ever decides to visit to bring a bathing suit. I rarely take a week long vacation but if I would do I would start with a few days on the west coast of Florida. Marco Island and Sarasota have always been my favorite places. From snow white sand to clear water these places are just perfect. Another thing that I love to do its fishing with friends and there its no other perfect place like South Florida for that . When it comes to food and fun, Las Olas boulevard checks that box.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am dedicating this shoutout to all the people that believed in me and encouraged me to follow my dreams, especially my husband who was always there to help and support me in any endeavor I was interested in. I am blessed to have such amazing family, friends and business partners that were always there to support my small business and to push me to do better.
