Meet Iyana Tennon | Realtor and Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Iyana Tennon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Iyana, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When you have built a strong foundation and invested blood, sweat and tears in a venture, giving up isn’t an option. Anything worth crying over, bleeding for and breaking a sweat for, is worth seeing to the end. The end being success and success being the only acceptable result.
When you try a get rich quick scheme or think a $50 or even $500 master class is going to give you overnight and lasting results, those are red flags that I don’t believe are factors for success. If you haven’t researched, invested the time or found the passion that wont let you quit even when you try, then I suggest you find something worth fighting for. There is a saying, “the plans may change but not the goal.”
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always had 2 jobs since I became working age. Even as a school founder, I found time to photograph special events in the evenings.
Transitioning from educator to realtor took sacrifice and risk. It meant taking steps without seeing the staircase or knowing where it leads but having faith every step is worth it.
Covid hit shortly after I earned my license and my plans to become a full-time agent were postponed. I started Yana’s Eyes as a home-based business that has potential to go viral and become more than I can imagine. After serving in the private and public schools on and off, I committed to full-time entrepreneur in November 2023 as a realtor and beauty supplier.
I started with Cosmore Real Estate Group at the end of 2023 and became a Homes for Heroes real estate specialist helping essential workers with home buying, selling and refinancing. I focus on educators, as my way of paying homage to a 20+ year career that has taught many lessons and been a blessing to my life. In 2024, I launched a new brush set, The Duchess, by Yana’s Eyes. The set is inspired by my love for Miami and the beauty of the city. I am targeting makeup artists and women that want to look like they hired one. Now, instead of 2 jobs, I have two businesses and they work together.
I want my life to be another example of God’s love and miracle working power.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We have to visit the food trucks at Haulover Park, and catch a sunset. I like going to happy hour and dinner at Sazons, it’s close to the beach and they have great food.. Brunch or breakfast at Bal Harbour shops is an experience that I recommend, for dining and shopping.
We can do some shopping at Bayside and catch a ride on the ferris wheel to get beautiful ocean and skyline views.
There are so many marketplaces, networking events, yacht parties, concerts. We can put together an itinerary or freestyle the whole week and have fun either way. Never a dull moment in South Florida but Id recommend friends visit for Art Basel, Black Luxe Picnic or Fashion Week, those are my favorite times of the year.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This chapter of my life, like the ones before it are credited to God. Since relocating to South Florida, I have had to persevere through decisions that only God understood. As a school founder, I had a mentor to guide me on the best policies and practices. However, moving was unchartered territory for everyone I knew so God has to see me through.
Becoming a realtor in a new state, no family, no friends, no real understanding of the geography of South Florida seems like a waste of time. Setting a goal to sell million dollar condos is a big goal for me, I know only God can accomplish.
He has ordered my steps since I landed, And now, I have a better understanding of Miami Dade and Broward counties’ geography and relative location to communities surrounding Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Without God, I couldn’t survive 6 months in South Florida. Thanks to God, I celebrate 7 years in August 2024.
