We had the good fortune of connecting with Keara Ozuna-Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keara, how do you think about risk?
Risk is made up of two parts which are the probability of something going wrong, and the negative consequences if it does. By approaching risk in a logical manner you can identify what you can and cannot control , and tackle potential problems with appropriate action. This can then help to alleviate feelings of stress and anxiety. Moving forward, in my case, I took a risk moving from DC to MIA with absolutely nothing and no one. It all began with a job offer and as much as I love where I am from, it was just time for change. It was so hard at first but that is why approaching risk in a logical manner is so important because all the downfalls, and hardships I knew I was going to eventually encounter I WAS PREPARED FOR. I honestly do not regret it one bit and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made my whole entire life. I have always had a place to sleep, food to eat but I was almost homeless at one point in my journey but that made me stronger than I have ever been and gave me the motivation to keep going and not to give up. Everything I have accomplished in Miami in such a short time period, I would not have done if I was still living in DC. My troubles made me want more, go for more because I know greatness and BEING A BOSS is what I’m destined for so I decided to become a licensed esthetician/electrologist.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I first became a Medical Assistant in 2017 with secondary training in Phlebotomy and Intravenous Therapy. With those skills I started in the industry as a Medical Assistant until, I was afforded the opportunity to pursue my passion in the esthetics field. I enrolled in Hollywood Institute for Beauty Careers for Esthetics, with the belief that being an esthetician would allow me the opportunity to help people in a relaxing environment and offer a variety of services, so they can feel like the best version of themselves. To me, each day is a new opportunity to provide a client with an enriching skincare experience! My passion is helping my clients feel comfortable and relaxed while leaving their skin glowing and healthy. I have a belief that you need to be thorough and detailed in your approach, to achieve result-oriented skincare solutions.
I also, genuinely believe that continuing education is very important in this industry and I perpetually update my training with the latest products and techniques, such as collagen boosting micro-needling, advanced exfoliation, and general esthetics. My business Touch of Paradise consists of all of those qualities and more. I specialize in luxury facials, chemical peels, advanced exfoliation, micro needling , waxing, laser and more. It has not been easy building clientele due to the very little support I currently have but that is why I AM NEVER GIVING UP AND WILL DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING to become one of the best estheticians in South Florida and for the people to know, who and what Touch of Paradise is.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to eat, dance, and enjoy nature. With that being said, one of my favorite places to go is Nikki Beach. Nikki beach is amazing because it is a luxury beach club that combines the elements of music, dining, entertainment, fashion, film and art into one destination which is perfect for me and my friends.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you to my little sister who was my motivation to becoming MY OWN BOSS.
