We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Gener and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is an immense part of my career. I used to live my life in complacency afraid of any backlash that came with risks. Thankfully, I realized the safe choices I made were never going to give me the life I wanted; I needed to push myself to be better. As a result, I took the biggest risk I had ever taken in my life: investing all my time, money, and energy into building my brand which has ultimately had the greatest payoff. Risks are the reasons for success in any career or life endeavor.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up I always loved to create but never with a focused style. As I grew professionally, I realized I needed to narrow down my style in order to better my craft and be consistent, which was an extremely challenging obstacle. I tried all types of mediums and styles but ultimately my love for fluid art surpassed others. Prior to the start of the NecoArts Company, I was creating solely as a hobby but always dreamed of something bigger. For a while, I manifested founding a company to publish my art and share it with others. After the hit of the Coronavirus pandemic, I realized it was as good of a time as ever. I felt that in such trying times I needed to keep myself busy as well as share my creations with the world. Once I realized my goals, it was time to work for it. This was the most challenging period of all, I found myself simply not having enough hours in the day to get everything done. I was practicing my craft daily for hours on end as well as keeping all paperwork and legal things running smoothly so I had the ability to launch my brand in a timely manner. My persistence paid off, by mid-October my company was fully operational and open to the public. Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of staying true to myself and my love for creating. Although this began as merely a hobby, it has become something more than that. I want this company to be larger than just myself, I want to create a lasting brand for decades to come.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is a beautiful city with such vibrancy, it’s not difficult to fall in love with all the possibilities it has to offer. My number one thing I love to do when I need to unwind or just enjoy a great day is drive over to Hollywood Beach, located just between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Apart from the beautiful sand and water, Hollywood Boardwalk is full of vibrant life. Besides the beach, you’ll always find me eating. Just a few of my favorite places are The Big Cheese, Casavana, El Rey De Las Fritas and The Taco Spot. Other than the beach and food, there is always plenty to explore in Miami, having a good time isn’t hard.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of my friends and family. Their consistent guidance and encouragement is something I will forever be grateful for. Of course, I also have to credit the endless podcasts, YouTube videos, and articles that others have created. These resources have provided me with so much information and the confidence to branch out and begin a successful business.
