We had the good fortune of connecting with Timmy F and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timmy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
There is a few quotes that I live by. One Is, “Success is on the other side of fear”. The other one is, “to get something you never had you must do something you never did’. Risk are always scary for me so I’m sure it would be for anyone else as well. The worst feeling is when your sitting there thinking to yourself what could’ve or would’ve happen if you took that risk. I’ve been there before and its not a good feeling. When I was younger I was in a program sponsored by Derrick Jeter called Turn2. He had a list of life lessons that we often studied and were quizzed on. One of the ten life lessons that stuck with me most is to never be afraid to fail. When you fail, you learn what to do differently moving forward to avoid failing again. There were times I had to risk my pride to ask for assistance.
There were also times i had to risk my last dime with high hope that I would actually see some sort of return on an investment. Sometimes things went as planned and sometimes they didn’t. What doesn’t kill you will build you.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Most My art whether its music or fashion, It all comes from a pain based experience that I’ve endured. I want for whoever the consumer is to either see thru my art or hear thru my my music whatever it is that I went thru. It was an extremely tough journey. I failed over and over again before I finally got the hang of certain things. I dedicated over 10,000 hours into my craft to be as good as I am today. I over came challenges by never giving up. Despite how hard it was and no matter how much money and or time that was invested working on a project i would still see it thru every time. I want the World to know that this is a life style brand. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t have to use a little finesse to get thru any obstacle in an aggressive manner. Which defines what Swindle and brute means.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If A friend was coming to Chicago We would have to start off right with brunch.
There’s a spot called wild berries that I’m a huge fan of we’d definitely slide thru there. There is also a cool park near the Calumet City area, Called Louis S Viverito Sidestream Elevated Pool. It looks magical. One of the coolest thing I’ve seen. Although i don’t drink I would definitely suggest that we head over to Roof On the Wit, Which is a cool rooftop Bar over on state street. Another thing I enjoy to do is hitting up the museums checking out the different exhibits.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout everyone who has ever supported the things I do. If you ever streamed one of my songs or if you ever purchased a piece from my brand. I would like to give a special thanks to you. With out you there would be no Timmy F and there would be no Swindle And Brute. Also I have to give a shout to those who believed in me and made sacrifices and put there name, time and or money on the line to help me chase my dreams. I love you all with everything in me.
