We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victor, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Through my content, my podcast Become the Victor Podcast, and my book Become the Victor: Turning Trials into Triumph, I share real, unfiltered experiences, especially around adversity, mental health, and living with spinal muscular atrophy type 2 to give people something deeper than motivation. I give them perspective. Because when someone sees a story, they can relate to, it reminds them they’re not alone… and that changes everything.

The impact of what I do goes beyond views or numbers. It shows up in the messages from people who say, “I was in a dark place, and your story helped me keep going.” That’s what drives me. I’m creating a space where people feel seen, understood, and encouraged to keep moving forward, even when life feels overwhelming.

Long-term, my goal is to expand that impact through speaking, storytelling, and community-driven initiatives, especially within the spinal muscular atrophy and mental health community. I want to help shift the narrative from limitation to possibility, and remind people that even in their lowest moments, there’s still purpose being built.

At the core of everything I do is this message: you’re not defined by what you go through… you’re defined by who you become because of it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is storytelling, but not just storytelling for entertainment. It is storytelling with intention. Everything I create, whether it’s a podcast episode, a piece of content, or something I write, is centered around one idea: helping people see that their struggles that it is not the end of their story… they’re the beginning of who they’re becoming.

What sets me apart is that I don’t speak from theory I speak from lived experiences. Living with spinal muscular atrophy type 2 has shaped how I see the world, how I process adversity, and how I communicate resilience. I’m not just telling people to “stay strong”, I’m showing them what it looks like to go through dark moments, question everything, and still find a way to rebuild yourself from the inside out.

What I’m most proud of is turning my lowest moments into something that can help someone else keep going. There was a time, especially around January 2020, where I hit one of the lowest points in my life, including a 72-hour psychiatric hold. In the moment, it felt like everything was breaking. But looking back now, that experience became the foundation for everything I am building today. It gave me a deeper level of empathy, awareness, and purpose that I carry into my work.

Getting to where I am today was not easy. It’s been a process of trial, error, self-reflection, and growth. There were moments of doubt, moments where I questioned if my voice even mattered, and moments where I had to rebuild my confidence from nothing. But I kept going. I leaned into my faith, I learned to sit with discomfort instead of running from it, and I made a decision that my story was worth sharing… even if it wasn’t perfect.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that growth doesn’t come from avoiding pain… it comes from facing it, understanding it, and allowing it to shape you into someone stronger. (For full transparency, I am referring to the pain of life that is non self inflicting). I have also learned that authenticity will always connect deeper than perfection. People don’t relate to a perfect image… they relate to truth.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is this: I’m not here to just motivate people for a moment… I am here to help them transform. My message, “Become the Victor,” isn’t just a phrase… it’s a mindset. It is about taking ownership of your story, no matter how difficult it’s been, and choosing to rise from it with purpose.

If someone walks away from my work feeling seen, understood, and just a little more hopeful about their life, then I know I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d want the week to feel like more than just a trip… I would want it to feel like something they truly enjoyed and something that stayed with them long after they left. For me, the biggest priority isn’t just what I like… it is making sure they’re having the best experience possible. I pay attention to what they enjoy, what excites them, what makes them feel alive, and I would build the week around that. Even if it’s something I wouldn’t normally choose, Because to me, their experience matters more than my preferences.

Personally, I really love being around nature. Being surrounded by trees, fresh air, animals, and even just the quiet of the outdoors brings a sense of peace that’s hard to describe. So, if it aligns with what they enjoy, I would definitely plan something where we can step away from the noise… whether that is walking through a scenic trail, spending time around water, or just sitting somewhere calm and grounded. I also enjoy the beach, where you can slow down, watch the waves, and just be present in the moment.

But more than anything, I’d tailor the experience to them. If they’re into high-energy environments, I’d plan something fun and exciting where we can laugh, let loose, and just enjoy the moment. If they enjoy food and culture, we’d explore different places, try new things, and just take it all in together. If they’re more reflective, I’d create space for deeper conversations… those moments where you really connect and talk about life, growth, and where you’re headed.

I would also make sure we have time where there’s no real plan at all… just space to be present, talk, and appreciate the time together. Sometimes those unplanned moments end up meaning the most.

At the end of the day, it’s not about creating a perfect itinerary… it’s about creating a meaningful experience. If my best friend leaves feeling appreciated, understood, and like they genuinely had an incredible time, that is what matters to me. Because for me, the best part of any experience isn’t just what you do… it is how you make someone feel while they’re there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I have to give all glory to God. My faith has been the anchor in my lowest moments, especially during seasons where I felt completely lost, broken, and unsure of who I was becoming. There were times in my life, particularly around January 2020, where everything felt like it was falling apart. But looking back now, I can see that those moments weren’t the end of my story… they were the beginning of my transformation.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to my mom for never giving up on me, my family for heir support, patience, and belief in me, especially while navigating life with spinal muscular atrophy type 2 has meant everything. They have seen me at my highest and my lowest, and they’ve never stopped showing up for me.

Another big part of my journey has been the community… people who may not even realize the impact they have had. Whether it’s someone sharing their story online, sending a message, or simply being vulnerable enough to speak their truth, those moments reminded me that I wasn’t alone. That is something I carry with me in everything I do now.

And I would also say my younger self deserves some credit too… the version of me that kept going even when it didn’t make sense, even when the pain was heavy, even when the future felt uncertain. He didn’t have all of the answers, but he held on long enough for me to become who I am today.

At the end of the day, my story is a reflection of all those influences… faith, family, community, and resilience. And I am grateful for every single part of it.
