Meet Gilberto Rosas | Marketing Agency Owner, Maverick Media Lab

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gilberto Rosas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gilberto, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is necessary for growth and seeing the rewards that life has to offer. That couldn’t be anymore truth than in business. When you take a risk to innovate or bet on yourself and your business, the marketplace will reward you. The things I used to view as risky a couple years ago I don’t view as risky anymore. The way to face risk is by cultivating more trust in self. The more you trust yourself, the bigger bets you can take. To truly cultivate self trust comes from not only the big decisions but also the very small decisions that are taken every day. It all comes down to how much you’re following through on what you said you would do. Every action that’s completed sends a signal to your subconscious mind that tells your brain that what you say you actually mean and follow through on. The brain follows proof not promises. If you can show your mind with your actions that you’re someone who does what they say they will do, your belief in self will skyrocket quickly and the risks that you can take will be that much bigger. In taking these risks, you’re putting yourself to the test and instilling more growth and self discovery. If you pass the test, you get rewarded and if you don’t then you learn a valuable lesson that will make you that much wiser for your next attempt. Too many people avoid risks for fear of failure but failure can never happen if you simply don’t quit. If you don’t quit, you’ll never fail and you will eventually succeed. I’ve seen this time and time again where I’ve made various attempts and took a risk but then “failed.” From the outside, it looks like I had failed miserably but if you look at it from a bird’s eye view, it actually made me stronger so that my next attempt was much more refined and calibrated so that I can achieve the outcome. Take risks. Don’t fear failure because it doesn’t exist when you never quit. You either win or you learn.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Maverick Media Lab, we strive to do what’s different and innovative. When starting the business I started to see that a lot of business owners didn’t really have the knowledge or training on how to use social media as a way to prospect and close business. So I saw there was a huge demand for marketing and sales systems.
We then noticed that in the mortgage industry, many mortgage brokers struggled to generate leads. They are often contractors or entrepreneurs that have to find prospects to sell their services to. We realized that mortgage brokers have two ways to grow their business: one is to buy leads or to establish more referral partnerships with realtors.
The only problem?
They didn’t know how to do either consistently or predictably so we sought to create systems that would not only generate more transactions for them but would also build solid referral partnerships with top producing realtors that would be the backbone of their business and the long term strategy for growth.
Now our clients are able to consistently generate more business without cold calling, wasting time on ineffective methods, or having to grow through large volumes of leads just to close 1 or 2.
It’s been a long road but seeing the success of our clients is incredibly gratifying and knowing that our services not only in huge demand creating tangible results is deeply fulfilling. Personally, I really love getting texts from clients who thank us for our service and tell us about the money they’ve made that has helped them pay off their mortgage, student loans, pay for their kid’s college or just have peace of mind from getting their time back.
It’s our mission at Maverick Media Lab to continuously innovate to create real change in the lives of our clients and thereby creating a ripple effect that will impact the lives of our client’s employees, families and customers!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend that visit me for a week, I would definitely show them all that LA has to offer. Usually in the morning, we would go for a hike at Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park to see the sun rise followed by a breakfast at a cool spot in Larchmont or somewhere in Santa Monica. During the day, we’d go to Venice Beach and lay down in LA’s beautiful sunny weather. For lunch, we’d get some tacos or Mexican food from lunch trucks or from a place like Calle Tacos in Hollywood. In the afternoon, we’d cruise around in the car on Pacific Coast Highway and make our way down the Malibu and Laguna Beach area to enjoy the weather and all there is to see. For dinner, we’d go somewhere in Downtown LA to get into more of a city vibe. I personally really enjoy Brazilian steakhouses like Fogo de Chao so we would go there or just walk around and pick a restaurant that catches our eye (there’s a lot of them). In the nighttime, we would go up to the Hollywood area and go to a hookah lounge and I would invite some friends to join us and that’s how we would end off the night. That to me would be the perfect day in LA, it would be filled with sunshine, great food, amazing views, waves and sand, and lots of friends and laughter.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In 2020, I had seen the biggest growth in my business (and in myself). That growth came down to many different factors but some of the ones that come to mind that helped tremendously were my mentors, my friends and family.
The first shoutout will is the most obvious: my parents. It’s one that almost all people mention but it’s true. When your parents support you and your vision, it catapults your drive and motivation. It definitely helped me when I felt down. The conversations with my mom when I felt like quitting kept me going, reminded me of my why and it also helped me to remember that me showing up for my business is also me showing up for my family and setting example not only to my friends but to my two younger sisters. I realized that getting into business much less about me than it is about who you’re helping. By that I mean not just clients, but employees, their families, and all the people that will be affected as a result of providing value to the world through this vehicle called business.
Finding a mentor has also been a huge contributor to my growth and the business growth in 2020. I could not have done it as fast had it not been for my mentors Brodie Kern and Julian Rosen. Both of them had helped me to become more business savvy but also improve my mindset, self image and outlook on life. When you have the business skillset and the right mindset, there is NOTHING that can stop you. I am incredibly grateful for both of them and I continue to work with them to gain even more wisdom, business acumen and self awareness.
