We had the good fortune of connecting with Josie Music and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josie, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
As a musician and songwriter, I don’t define success solely by popularity or recognition.

I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some exciting milestones, including having a song reach number one. While I am incredibly grateful for those moments, they didn’t change how I define success.

To me, success is about creating something honest and meaningful. The satisfaction I feel from writing a song that truly reflects who I am can be just as rewarding as any chart position.

I believe this applies to every area of life, not just music. Music is simply a very visible example because popularity is often used as a measure of success. But in reality, success is much deeper than recognition or public validation.

Some of the most meaningful achievements happen quietly, away from the spotlight. Success is found in the passion to keep creating, the courage to stay authentic, the willingness to keep learning, and the humility to remain grateful throughout the journey.

At the end of the day, success is not about how many people know your name—it’s about being proud of the person you are and the path you choose to follow.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Music has always been a part of my life. I grew up in a family of musicians, so it was never something that felt distant or impossible—it was simply part of who I am.

As a songwriter, what matters most to me is honesty. I write about real emotions, real experiences, and the lessons life teaches us along the way. Whether it’s love, loss, hope, resilience, or personal growth, I want people to find something genuine in my songs.

One thing I’ve learned is that, first and foremost, you have to do it for yourself. Before anything else, music has to come from an honest place within you. That’s what keeps it real.

One thing I’m particularly proud of is staying true to myself. In a world where it’s easy to follow trends or try to fit into a specific mold, I’ve learned the importance of creating music that feels authentic to me.

The journey certainly hasn’t been easy. Like many independent artists, I’ve faced challenges, self-doubt, setbacks, and moments where I questioned whether I should keep going. But every challenge taught me something valuable. I’ve learned that persistence often matters more than talent alone, and that growth happens when you’re willing to keep moving forward even when the path isn’t clear.

Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to meet incredible musicians, producers, and creative people who helped me learn and grow. Every experience, both positive and difficult, has shaped my journey.

If there’s one thing I would want people to know about me, it’s that my music comes from a genuine place. My goal has never been to chase fame. It’s simply to create songs that are honest, meaningful, and capable of connecting with others. If even one person feels understood because of something I’ve written, then I’ve accomplished something worthwhile.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami and the surrounding areas for a week, the first thing I’d do is bring them to the ocean. Being by the water, feeling the sand, the sun, the air, and that calm energy is the perfect way to start and immediately connect with the vibe of the place.

From there, I’d explore different neighborhoods in Miami and all the amazing food spots around the city. There’s such a mix of cultures and influences everywhere, and I love discovering small local places just as much as more well-known restaurants.

I also really enjoy simple moments like long walks at sunset, or driving along the coast and just taking in the ocean views. Miami has this unique energy where everything feels alive, especially in the evening when the light changes and the city starts to glow.

If we had more time, I’d definitely explore a bit outside of Miami as well, just to experience more of the surrounding areas. There’s something special about being on the water too—going out on a boat and seeing the city from that perspective at night, with the lights reflecting on the ocean.

For me, it wouldn’t be about trying to check everything off a list. It would be about experiencing the feeling of Miami and its surroundings—good energy, good food, music, nature, and those simple moments that stay with you.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I don’t think anyone gets where they are completely on their own.

If I had to give a shoutout, it would first be to my family. Music has always been part of my life, and growing up in a family of musicians had a huge influence on me. They helped shape my love of music and encouraged me to follow my own creative path.

I’d also like to thank my friends and everyone who has supported me along the way. Sometimes it’s the small gestures—a conversation, a kind word, someone believing in you when you’re doubting yourself—that make the biggest difference.

I’m also grateful for the amazing people I’ve met through music over the years. The producers, musicians, and artists I’ve crossed paths with have all taught me something and helped me grow, both creatively and personally.

There is also someone very close to my heart who is no longer here, but who continues to inspire me every day. I made a promise to myself to keep going with music and to keep creating in an honest way because of what that person meant to me. The love, memories, and lessons remain with me and are part of the person and songwriter I am today.

Looking back, I realize that both the people who supported me and the challenges I faced helped shape my journey. I’m grateful for all of it.
