We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Thevenin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, is there something you believe many others might not?
I was listening to a Jay Shetty Podcast one afternoon and one of the most unforgettable interviews I’ve had the chance to indulge in was with an artist named Russ. Although he was dropping gems throughout the entire interview, Jay Shetty asked him towards the end, “What is the worst advice you’ve ever gotten?” and Russ stated, “To be Realistic.” I was speechless in that moment because I was in a phase where I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to leave my 9 to 5 and go all in, or to become the businesswoman I knew I could be. I feel like that answered all my questions about what I should do. Being “realistic” in today’s society meant I had a good paying job with a steady paycheck coming in but not enough time to work on building and scaling my business which is what I was passionate about. That quote changed my whole outlook and is literally what I kept saying to myself as I typed up my resignation letter. “What if my dream grows bigger then I could imagine?” “What if having more time to devote to my business brings me more clients?” I decided at that moment, and I realized that what was “realistic” to me was betting on myself. Long story short, it’s become the conventional advice I don’t agree with because not following that advice puts me in a position to do what I love every day.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
“Aligned By JT ” came alive at a time when I was confused and lost about where I saw my life going. I was 3 years post college, unhappy in my field and suffering with the feeling that I knew there was more to life than working and paying bills. Now, as a practicing Licensed Esthetician, I absolutely love the fact that I help my clients feel beautiful. It’s a humbling feeling when you love what you do and your clients appreciate your work. Any entrepreneur will tell you it takes sacrifice, time, money and a whole lot of work to build a successful business. As corny as it sounds, you really have to have heart and a passion for this industry. This ain’t for the weak lol. Being able to commit to the schooling, licensing and certifications in multiple areas of this industry keeps me up to date on the new technologies available to my clients. There is always something to learn and perfect. With that being said, Something I can say I’ve learned along the way is keeping an open mind and staying in the mindset to take the time to get to know the people that lay on my table. Everyone has a story and having the opportunity to open up about the things that made them laugh today or insecure yesterday makes me want to be able to help them lift their spirits. My brand, Aligned by JT, was created with that in mind. is a safe place where my clients can feel beautiful and express themselves in all of their beauty.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coming from a city like Miami to a smaller city like Fort Myers has been a complete culture shock if I’m being honest. Although I still come to Miami to enjoy the nightlife from time to time, there are definitely some hidden gems in the city. One area I would take a friend to explore is the downtown area. I would equate it to a mini “Wynwood” where locals go to bar hop and enjoy late night music and street food. The city also always has some type of food truck festival for local foodies to enjoy and network.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Love to shout out my older sister Dominique. She has literally been there from the beginning. She was my first lash client and sat patiently for 4 Hours! Now she’s one of my regular clients and pushes me constantly to keep going.
